CPI(M) leader beaten on road in Kharagpur for protesting wall demolition, shirt torn
The Howrah Municipal Corporation on Sunday launched a dengue awareness rally as part of its “Dengue Vijay Abhiyan.” The rally began from Shailen Manna Stadium and passed through several major roads in the city to promote public awareness about mosquito-borne diseases. Civic employees and school students participated in the event, carrying placards and raising awareness slogans related to dengue prevention.
Present at the rally were Chairman of the Board of Administrators Sujay Chakraborty, Municipal Commissioner Vandana Pokhriyal, and board members Debangshu Das, Riaz Ahmed, and Anup Chakraborty. They accompanied the rally to oversee the campaign’s progress and interact with participants. Officials said the initiative is a part of routine pre-monsoon public health action to inform people about the risks of dengue and steps to stop mosquito breeding.
The civic body has also planned intensified fogging drives, door-to-door inspections, and distribution of awareness leaflets across dengue-prone areas. Citizens are being urged to clear stagnant water from homes and surroundings and cooperate with inspection teams. The campaign will continue in phases in other wards in the coming weeks.
